First, we&#8217;ll create another sound for this. On the left of the screen is the Instrument List. In order to learn how the thing works, select &#8220;PSG&#8221; as the instrument type, and &#8220;Decreasing volume&#8221; as the template: this will create a very short and simple sound, which we will improve. You can also select a nice color, which will show in the Pattern Viewer later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Press OK. Press the usual <a class=\"maxbutton-1 maxbutton maxbutton-keyboardshortcut\" href=\"javascript:void(0);\"><span class='mb-text'>qwerty<\/span><\/a> keys to listen to the new sound. It is not a very exciting one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/decreasingVolume.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several ways to edit the instrument, which are thoroughly explained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/index.php\/the-instrument-editor\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"467\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in this page<\/a>. We will take the less scary one: with the mouse. Let&#8217;s draw an original curve. Point your mouse on the envelope curve, press <a class=\"maxbutton-1 maxbutton maxbutton-keyboardshortcut\" href=\"javascript:void(0);\"><span class='mb-text'>ctrl<\/span><\/a> and draw a nice curve. The higher the speed, the slower the sound. This may sound illogical, but think of it this way: it is actually the delay between each column. Have fun and choose a speed that fits you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I created more columns than there was before, hence the &#8220;end&#8221; at the top-left set to 11 instead of F previously. You can create as many columns as you want. You can set the &#8220;end&#8221; to a lower value if your sound is too large, or delete the unwanted columns by locating the cursor on it (right-click on it) and pressing <a class=\"maxbutton-1 maxbutton maxbutton-keyboardshortcut\" href=\"javascript:void(0);\"><span class='mb-text'>del<\/span><\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use the lower octave to play it, as it is our bass after all (<a class=\"maxbutton-1 maxbutton maxbutton-keyboardshortcut\" href=\"javascript:void(0);\"><span class='mb-text'>numeric pad -<\/span><\/a> <a class=\"maxbutton-1 maxbutton maxbutton-keyboardshortcut\" href=\"javascript:void(0);\"><span class='mb-text'>numeric pad +<\/span><\/a> to change the octave, or change the octave at the top of the screen).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This should sound like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/bass.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Rather original isn&#8217;t it? But let&#8217;s spice it up a bit. If needed, scroll down to reach the &#8220;Arp. octave&#8221; section in the <strong>primary<\/strong> section. Right now there are no values. For now, let&#8217;s consider this instrument finished. Let&#8217;s use it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Adding the bass in the pattern<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s go back to the PV: you can do this either by pressing <a class=\"maxbutton-1 maxbutton maxbutton-keyboardshortcut\" href=\"javascript:void(0);\"><span class='mb-text'>F2<\/span><\/a>, or pressing on the graphical shortcut icon at the top-right of the IL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"262\" height=\"84\" src=\"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/instrumentListPVIcon.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1114\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/instrumentListPVIcon.png 262w, https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/instrumentListPVIcon-230x74.png 230w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Then move your cursor at the top of the pattern, on the second track (which should be empty).
