{"id":2632,"date":"2025-08-14T11:00:30","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T09:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/?page_id=2632"},"modified":"2025-09-08T11:46:53","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T09:46:53","slug":"export-to-mod","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/index.php\/export-to-mod\/","title":{"rendered":"Export to MOD"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Export to MOD feature (since 3.3) records your sounds as WAV and produces the patterns so that you can continue your song with any MOD editor, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/openmpt.org\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/openmpt.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OpenMPT<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, please bear in mind the limitations of the exporter, but especially the MOD format!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>This export is NOT what must be used if you want to play a MOD on CPC. For this, export to RAW, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.julien-nevo.com\/arkostracker\/index.php\/the-mod-player\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"1396\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">as explained here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Limitations of the exporter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Only the Set Volume and Reset effects are encoded.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8230; that&#8217;s all :). Not so bad, he ?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Limitations of the MOD format<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Only 31 instruments!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only 64 patterns!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only 5 octaves! Out-of-bounds octaves are capped.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The samples must be 8373 Hz, so the PSG sounds will probably sound bad.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The samples are limited to 64k.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So you might want to use MOD as a pivot format, and rework the whole thing.
